My wife and I travel to Western Canada by car and I have unmarked Passport and was removed from CA Registry in 2022, We was able to get in.
** ETIAS UPDATE ** The EU’s ETIAS program is currently scheduled to begin on October 12, 2026.
Happy travels to all!!
I work for a company based in Sweden and am a person forced to register (PFR) in the US (Poss. CP, 2016 conviction, completed parole, marked passport). My company wants me to travel there this September for business. Does anyone have any experience getting a business visa to Sweden/EU and what that process is like? Thanks!
Does anyone have any experience with Egypt? I just found out that Egypt recently extended the time a traveler can stay at one time on their 5 year visa from 90 to 180 days. And I think a traveler doesn’t have to stay out of the country for a set number of months before returning. I believe it resets upon return to Egypt. The only drawback is the 5 year visa costs $700. But it’s worth it to stay 5 years in a dirt cheap country with a warm climate 😊Thoughts?
I’m planning on crossing the border at CBX near Tijuana and see what happens. My daughters friend is getting married in Cancun next month and want to test the waters. Clean passport, no longer on the registry. We’ll see what happens.
That’s nice, David, but I read on their website that an algorithm assigns a ‘security risk assessment.” They say:
“Convictions for terrorism, human trafficking, drug trafficking, and sexual offenses against children carry the highest risk scores. Even decades-old convictions for these crimes can trigger refusal.”
Most people on the registry have sexual offenses against children…including no contact ones. So i would be cautiously optimistic about getting into Europe once ETIAS is in place
My wife and I were talking about upcoming travel and I noticed Greece is on the RTAG site as turning people away. Is that currently the case?
Doc, I’m going to finish probation April 29, 2026. I’m 61 years old with only 1 more year to go until I can get social security, which I am qualified to get about 1300 monthly. Gonna high tail it. So I’m always interested in what you are thinking. Best of everything to you my friend, js
Spain trip report: Dual US/non-Schengen European country citizen. Marked US passport. Gave 21 day notice. In state that as of 2025 is still considered non-SORNA compliant. Upon arrival in Madrid, the captain had me deboard before everyone else to meet police at the jet ramp. The police asked me for my travel itinerary including the exact address I was staying at and a contact number. They asked for my passport and I gave them my non-US passport (as that was what I had used when checking in to the flight). They seemed uninformed about why they had to ask me all of this. I was then cleared to go. At border control I encountered no issue or delay. Upon return, I was taken to secondary screening, where after 30 seconds I was given my passport back with no questions asked.
It was an embarrassing and aggravating way to enter Spain.
Our biggest challenge may actually be with shortages or outright unavailability of gasoline or jet fuel in Europe to get around in a rented car and for flights inside Europe or, even, to return “home”, due to the situation with the Strait of Hormuz ..
Something to consider…!
